It's just too painful to read what he writes. Tortured logic doesn't help, either. Zeldman is a positive force on the web, and then Winer writes this about him:

<blockquote>I don't have time to get into arguments with you and Zeldman and all your minions. I'm supporting a few dozen users now and getting ready to support a few hundred. I'm not fighting a battle against the Evil Empire and neither are you. I can't wait until you decide to help me and I won't throw out my solution until you give me one that works, and I don't see why you make me jump through this fucking hoop every damned time Bryan. <blockquote>

David Winer wa baka desu.

What 'net technologies need is another crazed egotist pushing his agenda at the expense of the community as a whole. Wasn't LSD use by programmers supposed to create an egoless environment?

Recently Dave Winer has been made some comments about CSS and his apparent dislike for it. He claims that it

I think it shows that Harvard doesn't do background checks. If they would search the web, they would see a lot of issues with his company, his rudeness, and just his asshole-ness. Few Programmers love him, but everyone else wishes he would go away.

I have to agree. I mean the guy is incredible. Some time ago he went out and declared XML to be broken. Broken. Yeah, because he didn't, or don't, understand namespaces. I'm not even kidding.

Now, he admits to not understanding why one would want to seperate content from formatting. And he's supposed to be an XML-wizard, or atleast an XML-advocate.

I'm having a hard time trying to respect that.

<em>Mr Winer has for years written prolifically on his personal sites, and in so doing has encouraged others to create personal sites and blogs, thus fostering aspects of the web's independent content movement and helping to create a friendly climate not only for his company's products but also for competitive publishing tools including Blogger and Movable Type.</em>

In fact, I'd say that Mr. Winer's attitude is the biggest piece of advertising for Blogger and Movable Type. :)
