Kayaking Loxahatchee

Today, while wrapping things up at a client meeting, the talk turned to kayaking. I mentioned that I'd just picked up a kayak and my clients, having been adventurous sea touring kayakers before they moved to Florida, gave me some good tips on locations nearby. One of those locations was Loxahatchee National Park, about 15 minutes from where I live.

Have a look at this page or that one, both of which are (oddly) nearly identical.

An alligator may greet you at the launch site then off thru your first challenge, a bed of lillypads! This is a 5.5 mile trail and mostly narrow so you will need good paddling skills. Total leisure paddle time is 2.15 hours. Excellent viewing of flowers including orchids and of birds. Home of the endangered Snail Kite. Bring your camera and binoculars. This is a peaceful paddle with no one around for miles.

Sounds good. What's no good are any kayaking sites for South Florida. I'm really, really, really tempted to make my own. I might just do it, too. I might, I really might. I wonder. Should I? I wonder. If one pops up in a month, don't say I didn't warn you. I have a bad habit of making sites whenever I get a new hobby…. Ugh. Maybe.
