My Political Compass

Inspired (poor word choice I know) by this mention at Bryan Bell's site, I took the political compass test at politicalcompass.org:

Economic Left/Right: -2.00
Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.28

Like Bryan, I'm largely a leftist libertarian (a mild one at that), if the results of that quiz are to be believed.

  1. Beat ya 😉

    Left/Right: -6.88

    Lib/Auth: -6.36

  2. Should I be worried?

    Economic Left/Right: -8.00

    Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.31

  3. Political compass

The Political Compass is an interesting site that decries the inadequacy of “left” and “right” in describing people’s political leanings. It leaves left and right as a scale describing economic politics, with communism on ...

  4. First time posting...here is my compass:

    Economic Left/Right: 0.88

    Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.05

And here are my comments, which I just emailed to that site:

Nice site, not the first time I took the test.

Then after I scroll to bottom of my eval page, I see the "extreme right" page.

I used to be on the extreme right. I still am, in some respects.

    Other areas, I'm not.

No words about the extreme left?

You know them...the people who want to:

Free a cop murderer in PA...

Who firebomb ski resorts is CO...

Who spike trees at logging sites (even though there is MORE forest land now than 10 years)...

Who want the U.S. to enter into a global warming agreement that (I think) no other western nation has yet agreed to (or one at most) and which will not apply to developing nations...

Who oppose a "war for oil", oppose drilling for oil anywhere in the U.S., oppose nuclear power even though it's gotten radically safer in the last 20 years; plus our ostensiblly "liberal" friends in France get about 90% of their power from nuke plants...

Who didn't bat an eye when Slick Willie bombed an aspirin factory with Monica's Missles and without a U.N. mandate...but when W attacks Afghanistan and Iraq under clearly important reasons, everyone gets their panties in a bind.

Who clearly don't have a clue about what it takes to maintain the U.S.' Superiority and the very freedoms they use to protest in the first place...

Who refuse to recogzize that terminating a pregnancy before the baby pops out into the world, is MURDER...

Who don't understand the an abortion was, until recently, another term for ***miscarriage***, an accidental, premature birth resulting in the baby being born dead...

Who don't undersand or are too fucking conceited to accept the following:

    BEGIN QUOTE

It is the soldier, not the reporter,

who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet,

who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,

who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, not the lawyer,

who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag,

    who serves under the flag,

and whose coffin is draped by the flag,

who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Who deny the Bibles rules and ideals, then get pissed off at God when their life is so fucked up...perhaps they should look in the mirror for the one and only reason they have so many problems, instead of blaming God, the Far Right, republicans, etc.

I could go on and on? But what's the use? If yer with me, then you agree. If'n you ain't, then...feel free to exit my country ASAP. And it is my country, since I served honorably, I contributed to the freedoms I enjoy.

Because, if you ain't willing to serve in the U.S, military, then as far I'm concerned, yer a PUSSY.

    This includes the conservative "chickenhawks".

    Steve

P.S. the military/draft dodger thing thing is what gets me pissed off, not abortion, or spiking trees, or even people who apologize for Slick Willie.

And I'm a libertarian at heart. NOT a republican. Not anymore.

  5. Bah. Why pick sides? I've never understood the reason behind determining one's proper political party. Vote for the person most likely to get out of our way and be done with it. 🙂

Oh, a centrist, with attitude. Cherrio. 😉

  6. Economic Left/Right: -3.25

    Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.10

Curious. It's on a scale of 0-10 so it's not like I'm a flaming Lib or anything but I find it odd that I still have a tendency to vote Conservative...

    Oh well.

PS: Steve, you might as well call me an all-out cunt, then, because while I admire and support the armed forces I'm a friggin' coward that would not even make it out of basic training. Perhaps you should reconsider your position and this time realize that America is full of many different kinds of people and only some are capable of handling life in the armed forces. They have my support, but I will never be one of them.

    Much like homosexuals. 🙂

  7. > They have my support, but I will never be one of them.

    > Much like homosexuals. 🙂

That's the best analogy I've heard in a while...and on so many levels, too 🙂
