Recent Tunes

Mac OS X Hints publishes a nice review of Recent Tunes (why they call it Current Tunes is beyond me) and reminds me that I've been looking to give the product away for awhile now.

If you're interested in the source code to Recent Tunes, please let me know. We'd like to see the application further developed and a few bugs fixed. We've recently been too busy to update our freeware offerings.

If you're interested in Recent Tunes, let me know by emailing "me @ this domain." Recent Tunes 2.0 was largely developed by FSS member Brad Miller, and if you plan to sell Recent Tunes for a price (even $5), I will ask that you pay Brad a nominal fee for the rights to the code. If you wish to distribute the software free, then we'll be happy to give it to you free.

And finally, if anyone wishes to develop the software, get the credit for it, but still have FSS distribute the software via our site, we can work that out as well.

P.S. Only one copy of the source code will be given out. This isn't a free-for-all. 🙂

  1. I'd be interested in the source to Recent Tunes, but have you given any thought to releasing it as open source? Put it under the proper licence, and even if someone did decide to charge money for it, there'd still be a free version available. There aren't nearly enough open source OS X applications out there (at least, ones that aren't just ports of UNIX tools that are already open source).

  2. I would totally love the source code for this. I loved the beginning of this app as the cocoadevcentral tutorial, and would soup it up for sure. There are plenty of features that I would add to it in the first five minutes. Please please please... open this baby up.

  3. Damn You, Freshly Squeezed!

In reading about a a review of RecentTunes at NSLog today, I ended up poking around Freshly Squeezed Software\'s free...

  4. I'd love the source. I agree with Mr. Landers -- you should make it open source -- put it on sourceforge or something!

  5. I have no idea how to program anything, but I know what I like. Recent Tunes is a great little program and I'd love for it to be a little more reliable in OS X 10.4. Has the source been released yet or sold? I still use it, but sometimes it just turns off, or stops uploading information. It is almost the perfect solution for th simple task of uploading track info, and staying out of the way at the same time. Someone, please!
