I have no clue where the tetonic plates lay that far north... and I suppose most are in the same boat as me. So maybe just maybe a few people thought some of the islands that string out into the Bearing Sea my technecally be part of Asia so the used the term "Continental". I know silly reason why the term might be use... but its a theory.

		<description>Yeah, it's a silly mistake, but it's so common that I've given up and just ignore it.  People seem to get it wrong at least 50% of the time, so it's not worth my time to correct them or even pay any attention to it.</description>
