It is reasons like this that Adobe created the DNG format for storing raw images. If camera manufacturers supported DNG in their cameras, then any of the apps that support reading DNG files (more and more raw-supporting apps are starting to add DNG support) would be able to handle the files from new cameras automatically when they come out. So, yes, I have started saving for one - I hope to get it within 3-4 months.
