I use it every day because it pays my rent. Combined with the WebObjects frameworks, it's the _very_ useful for sophisticated server stuff, yet it's able to produce tremendously ugly desktop apps... Every tool has its purpose, I guess but to me, AWT is only useful for server-side image processing.

Yep, my job is Java web development. Although it looks like my company's clients are requesting .NET more and more these days, so we'll see what happens.
