Announcing NSLog.com’s New Logo

NSLogoI've spent hours, weeks, and months creating this new logo for NSLog(); and nslog.com. I call it the "NSLogo." (Get it?) It's truly original.

Really, it is.

I swear. I didn't copy it from anything, and I've done it all on my own. See, the color even matches the blue links and everything.

Scottish Arts Council? Sterling Brands? Never heard of 'em. And I've never been to the Bahamas or Toronto, either. Why do you ask?

  1. I thought it was the quicktime logo that definitely wasn't an influence. I am reminded of the 'chicken' knobs on vintage guitar amplifiers and kitchen stoves however.

The real brain twister is, how do you work NSLog out of that bit of minimalism? Is it some buried icon from NextStep or something? I sort of see square corners from an L, maybe even a G in there, but I suspect some more obscure reference.

  2. Smartcom.

These folks here at my country would not be very pleased with your logo, Erik. Take a look at the "A" on the brand name, that also happens to be the reduced version of the logo and the "brand shape". Looks like everyone's having the same ideas lately, it has happened a lot to me too, lately. I'm not kidding.

  3. Beware of quantum ducks.

  4. It sort of looks like the planchette from a Ouija board.

  5. Doesn't anyone have a sense of humor anymore? 😛

  6. I think they must not have followed the link. (Or read about Quark's logo elsewhere, as I had.)

Read the linked article, people. It's funny.

  7. I'm sorry, I just saw the picture and before I could see the link, I thought of Smartcom and had to post it. I think I was in a rush because of my crappy dial-up connection I'm having right now.

Nice joke, though, too bad I couldn't get it the first time.
