More Egregious Grammar

A picture at Valerio's on 32nd and Pittsburgh Avenue here in Erie showed small baby girl eating a submarine sandwich. The handwritten caption read: Your never to young to enjoy a Valerio's sub!

It's been there for at least a year and nobody's managed to change it, despite the fact that you could easily fit an apostrophe, an "e," and an "o" in between the other letters and spaces.

I've known people to carry around Sharpies for just such an occasion. Our local Dairy Queen had a sign in their freezer that read "Secretary's Love Our Cakes" for years. My mother sent them a letter, which we could see in the response letter had been forwarded to several others. What became of it? The sign remained, but they did send a bunch of non-expiring coupons for our trouble. They recently renovated, but the sign is (un)fortunately no longer with us.

My old English teacher got €50 from a shop for sending them a letter correcting the numerous errors in one of their posters.

Misuses of apostrophes, and the common mistakes related to your/you're and there/their/they're all really bother me.

Its not like its very hard to learn these simple rule's!

    Ahem.

"It's been there for at least a year and nobody's managed to change it..."

Was that an intentional mistake in your own use of apostrophe? :) I'm pretty sure you cannot use "nobody's" to mean nobody has.

You're wrong. It was intentional and is correct.
