Now All I Need is my Wii

I was in the area, so I dropped in to my local GameStop to pick up my pre-ordered Wii games (picture in the extended entry). I haven't pre-ordered any first-party titles, so they were all available to me as third-party games have no "do not sell until" restriction. Now all I need is my Wii, which I'll be picking up at about 11am on Sunday.

While the friendly Gamestop employee Dave was retrieving my discs, I wandered over to the PS3 booth where someone was playing NBA '07. I haven't read the review, but IGN gave it a 7.8 - good, but not great.

Regardless, the graphics were simply jaw-dropping. I haven't even looked at getting a PS3 because I don't particularly care for the controller (never have), don't care at all for the price ($600 for a game machine and a losing movie format?), or the hassle in getting one (why can't they make enough?). Now I'm fairly certain that, when the price eventually drops, I may just have to pick one up.

  1. Apparently this is one of the few launch games for the PS3 that runs in true 1080p. Presumably the in-store TV runs at 1080p. I think mine, a 60" Sony rear-projection LCD, can only run 720p and 1080i.

  2. As another Erik (Cartman) learned the hard way, just remember to be patient.

  3. Let us know how is Call of Duty 3. I'm so unsure with which version to buy, XBOX360 or Wii. I want Wii's for innovative control but I also want XBOX360's for its gorgeous graphic and online multiplayer.

The reviews seem to favor the XBox version, primarily for the graphics. The controls are a push, from what I can tell - it's fun on the Wii, but also kinda half-assed and they don't always work very well.

I also don't have a 360, so any comparisons on my end will be impossible.

  5. I'm heading home for Thanksgiving, and getting to Target very early morning on Sunday to get my Wii. I'm getting Zelda, Red Steel, and Monkey Ball.

Have you look at Elebits at all? I'll probably have it by Christmas, and can post a quick review on my blog if you're interested.
