   That reminds me of that Earthlink commercial.

   "Because an Earthlink address leaves a good impression".

   How? People that can't even count the change in their pocket without using a calcuator can probably get an Earthlink email address. I'm so sure that an employer or business partner will see your card with "JoeSchmoe@earthlink.net" and say "WOW! He even has an EARTHLINK address, this guy is the real deal!"

   As far as AOL, if I saw someone put an @aol.com email address on a business card as their contact information, I'd roll my eyes and toss it in the trash. It just screams unprofessional.

   I work for a printer and, in doing business cards for customers, I see @aol.com, @hotmail.com, @msn.com and @earthlink.com e-mail addresses all the time.

   Surprisingly, I don't see too many @gmail.com addresses (although now that Gmail is open to the masses, I suppose we'll see more of it in the future).

   You would probably be astounded by the number of people out there that don't have a clue about business presense on the 'net.

   What prompted me to write this was someone insisting I could do something business-related to make five times the money I'm making now. He was of course telling me all of this from an AOL email address. Uh huh.

   I can't remember the last time I took someone with an @aol.com email address properly. Oh wait, yes I can: it was when Steve Case emailed me back in 1999 or so.

   Well how about this one? As IT manager at my former employer, I had a bunch of "con-sultants" foisted on me to do an "IT audit" shortly after I started. They only had an "@optusnet.net.au" (big ISP in .au) address - had neither a business domain nor any web presence. Yet when I shot down most of their recommendations, I was the "bad guy" being "uncooperative".

   [I found out later that they were mates of the main accounting con-sultant...explained a lot ]
