The idea that all of a sudden a bunch of amateurs in the stands will start making a ton of cash of shots from the crowd is total crap. The San Jose Sharks have a much more reasonable policy: no lenses over six inches. It's pretty fair, and totally objective. No having the $6/hour security guard telling you your camera is too "professional." That might have been a good policy… 10 years ago. Now everybody and their dog has an SLR.

No doubt concerns over the sale of images without the permission of the Penguins

It's hard enough for experienced pro photographers to make a living. The idea that all of a sudden a bunch of amateurs in the stands will start making a ton of cash of shots from the crowd is total crap.

The San Jose Sharks have a much more reasonable policy: no lenses over six inches. It's pretty fair, and totally objective. No having the $6/hour security guard telling you your camera is too "professional."
