Hi! I think Cleveland has Lions - they are located right next to the food court across from the Elephants. The little guy with his hands on his knees is a blueeyed black lemur (clever name hu?) and the monkey with the purple tail is a Colobus monkey. I am not sure why his tail is purple... you could ask the blog keeper at the zoo blog The roar report: http://www.clemetzoo.com/zblog

Thanks for the advice, Erik... I've got a pretty decent Point-and-Shoot at the moment which creates some fairly decent results.

It's just that I very interested in learning all about the different lenses, aperutre settings, exposures, etc... Especially because there are so many good photo opportunities that arise whilst we're out and about travelling the world!

I probably won't have the time to get anything decent before we go away, but if last time is anything to go by, there's lots of good (read: cheap) electronics shops around that sell photography equipment and it'd be great to have a clue what I'm looking at to make sure I don't buy anything that won't serve me well.

Have you by any chance got any general tips?

Thanks...
Some great photographs in here! I really want to get into photography, but haven't really got a clue where to begin or to even look for answers. I'm off on a cruise for 6 months in 4 weeks so I'd need to get some gear pretty quickly. Any advice?
Pick up a decent point-and-shoot, a lot of memory cards, and just be happy with the results you get? It would be rather difficult to pick up the tricks of a DSLR (not to mention fairly expensive) in such a short amount of time. It can be done, but my hunch is you'll have other things to do in those four weeks.

Learn when you return.
