iPhone App Install Problems

Apple needs to fix this crap:

iPhone Install Error

The only way to reliably install applications is to:

  1. Delete the application from the iPhone (which deletes all the data)
  2. Delete the updated app from iTunes
  3. Sync
  4. Re-Add (by drag and drop) the .ipa (iPhone App) back into iTunes
  5. Sync again

Lame.

  1. I was getting that all the time after migrating from an iPod touch to an iPhone 3G. I had backed up the iPod and used that backup to restore to the phone and had nothing but problems with app installs, updates, and update notification until I just redid the iPhone from scratch. It was a pain, but everything has been seamless so far. Just my $0.02.

  2. I have had the same issues. For me this was solved by unplugging and restarting the iPhone.

The phone's been restarted several times, I assure you. That hasn't fixed anything.

The only fix may be the one Justin's outlined, but I'm not looking forward to doing that at all, and I'll put it off as long as possible.

  4. I've had this problem since getting a replacement iPhone 3G, been driving me nuts as well. I just found a fix for this problem though. Basically, do a restore from backup AFTER updating to iPhone 2.1 and iTunes 8. Your 3rd party apps won't be in the correct places, and if you had any apps that got pulled from the store, they'll go away.

    Credit for the fix

  5. My iphone keeps telling me to switch to the canadian store before i can purchase any apps. How do i do that???
