Today I accidentally hit shift-cmd-U. Opera - yeah, that Opera - launched.
I quit Opera and looked in my Applications folder for a copy. Failing to find one, I performed a search. I threw away a few Opera preferences folders but found no Opera application.
So I hit shift-cmd-U again… and used the dock menu to locate [...]

I pre-ordered Leopard on June 20, 2007 at Amazon.com. Today when I saw the price had dropped to $109 from $129, I checked my pre-order. It still said $129 and that it would ship on November 1-3.
So I cancelled my long-standing pre-order and ordered again - at $109 and with shipping on or before October [...]

With the release of TextExpander 2.0, I've made the switch from TypeIt4Me. I hung with Ti4M for its entire lifetime, but the developer is unresponsive at this time and TextExpander's feature set has surpassed TypeIt4Me's. They've made my previous comments about TypeIt4Me outdated.
Turns out TextExpander still can't do some of the things TypeIt4Me has done [...]

WireTap Studio has been released. I competitively upgraded from Fission, which I never use, but will likely still use Audio Hijack Pro to continue to record the Golf Talk Podcasts. I've finally got a pretty good setup wherein I can record myself in one channel, the other hosts in another channel, and adjust the gain [...]

John Gruber writes about iPhone users who have unlocked their iPhones and feel "screwed" because they have a sense of entitlement.
John takes steps to illustrate the differences between a hardware modification and a software modification. His example of a software modification is replacing a kernel extension with another older version.
John then claims that if you [...]

So Apple has this pretty awesome way to create your own little jingles and things. It's called Garage Band.
And Apple has this nifty little phone that can play little jingles and things. It's called the iPhone.
But there's no way to get something from the first thing onto the second thing.
None at all.

Two great applications - EagleFiler and Cyndicate - are being offered this week for a combined "bundle" price of $55.
Cyndicate, of course, I've written about before. I continue to believe it's the best feed reader/aggregator on the market today and one of its killer features - ratings - was developed with help from EagleFiler's developer, [...]

According to iDefrag, my main disk has about 0.2%/0.5% fragmentation. Big whoop. My Catalog has six fragments. Again, big whoop.
Mac OS X has had, for awhile now, "built-in defragmentation." Something like any file under 20 MB is automatically defragmented when it's touched by the system - to open, to save, etc. Great.
Still, my disks sometimes [...]

Safari's 3.0 beta's "restore" functionality typically works really well. Unfortunately, history and the "restore" functionality seem far too closely tied to each other to work really well.
If I open five tabs in one window, clear my history, quit Safari, re-launch, and immediately choose "Reopen All Windows From Last Session," nothing happens.
In ~/Library/Safari you'll find both [...]

Speaketh Steve:
Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple's website next week. Stay tuned.
I'm still "tuned." It's mid-day Thursday.

Ringtones aren't quite ready. I've seen several notes about this, but thus far very few of the artists I've searched for have had ringtones, so I've not really played around with it. Today I took the opposite approach: I clicked one of the top five ringtones at the iTMS home page.
Oddly, this is the result. [...]

Select a non-iTMS track in iTunes and, via the contextual menu, choose "Create Ringtone…".
Gee, thanks. How about you disable the freaking menu for items to which it doesn't apply rather than insult my intelligence?
Gruber pointed this out to me. Wow.

Paul's comments on the dock in Mac OS X 10.5 have generated over 100 comments. Read them all if you're really, really bored. If you haven't got quite that much time, I've got a simple question:
How do you feel about Mac OS X 10.5's (Leopard's) dock??? Love It Hate It No Opinion View Results
