Florida Blogs

I've got a bit of time and the necessary skills: I want to start a "Florida Blogs" directory site. I've seen some others - I think Texas has one, New York has one, etc. I'd like to start a Florida blog. You could find people nearby with zip or area codes, by name, by interest, stuff like that. I'd use it to find out what people do for entertainment around here, to get a finger on my local buzz (perhaps that buzz is just the whine of the old people's respirators, I don't know).

Are there any Florida bloggers who would like to help? I don't want to make the site all "my ideas" because, well, my ideas are only the ideas of one man and I'm quite positive the more ideas the better. IM ("iacas" on AIM) or email me (click "iacas" below). Or post a comment, if you must, but leave a valid email address.

I'll host and develop the site if that's required. Anyone interested?

  1. Id be interested, although im not exactly the most frequent blogger...

do you have a link to the texas blog?

  2. This site has a feature where you can locate blogs geographically near to whatever one you're looking at the profile for (the site seems to be another recently-updated-blogs tracking thing).

It can only do this if you've included certain metadata in your blog's pages (the link above goes to their FAQ on metadata). Maybe it would be worth adding such geo-metadata to your blog, even if you also want to make your own Florida-blogs index.

  3. I've given some more thought to my idea of starting a Florida Blogs site. Mainly, in the absence of finding other regional ones (call me...

  4. I'm a Floridian in exile, so I don't count. I'll bet Robyn at http://tampatantrum.com knows a bunch, though - she's based in Tampa.

  5. If you'd like, I might be able to help out. I don't have a ton of free time, but let me know if my assistance is needed. I'm a FL blogger myself 🙂

  6. I know I'm a little late to this particular party, but oh well. To the guy who wanted to know about the blog directory in Texas, check it out at dfwblogs.com. Of course, the thing about dfwblogs.com that made it cool was the monthly meetups. I just moved from Texas to Fort Lauderdale, so I'd be interested in a FL blog directory as well.

  7. Well, I'm seriosly late to this party, but what the heck. I'm down in FT. Laud and would be more than willing to help. I'm a "Professional in Career Transition," if you get my drift, so I have some time on my hands. You can contact me via my blog, http://www.gnorb.net. I'm more than happy to help out.

  8. Well it looks like there is a little interest but nothing has been done. If there really is some interest you might get some blogging started about this topic. I can and will start such a directory if more then a couple of Florida Bloggers contact me.

  9. I have included the url to my neohyte effort for your review. I don't know much about blogging, other than how to put down my thoughts whenever I get a chance.

    Thanks,

    PJ
