The Illiteracy are Appalling

I kid you not, from http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/01/20040123-2.html

Then you wake up at the high school level and find out that the illiteracy level of our children are appalling.

Ugh. Double ugh. Triple ugh. Quadruple ugh. Let's hope the ugh doesn't extend four more years.

  1. Of course it will continue for four more years. Apparently the people enjoy having a president as dumb as they is, er, are.

  2. I am a Conservative Republican.

BWAAAA-HAHAHAHA! Man, I couldn't even keep a straight face typing that... Some douche-bag commented on this very blog, "Whats with all the liberals culminating to one web site? Where are the pro-Bush arguments, like..." and so and so forth. I'm...

  3. Ha! That's rich! If the White House website can't get it right, then they must really be appalling.

  4. I found this to be amusing: Ribs

We survived 8 years of Clinton's ignorance - we can survive 8 of Bush's stupidity. Given the two, at least Bush hasn't gotten caught diddling someone in the White House.

  5. Is the worst thing that can be said about Clinton that he got horny with an intern? Big deal. Come up with something - beg your pardon - with some meat to it already!

  6. Embezzlement was a good one. 🙂

  7. the diddling the intern in the oval office isn't the offensive part. he was being sued for sexual harrassment and the plaintiff was establishing that he has a history of such behavior. he lied.

so what we have is the man responsible for law and order in this nation lying under oath to prevent a woman accusing him of wrongdoing from having her day in court.

    _that_ is the offensive part.

  8. You know, if you're always able to keep your subject-verb agreement perfect when speaking extemporaneously, good for you. I think I'm a fairly literate person, and when speaking off the top of my head I sometimes get my grammar a little sideways. I think the same is true of most people.

Getting snide about a mistake that every single one of us has made over and over again is really... well, lame.

    Ugh, indeed.

  9. Good call, doce. I'll be voting for Bush next time around, I can tell you that much.

What I don't understand is this: Bush is speaking constantly, giving speeches all over the place, and probably publicly speaking an order of magnitude more words than any of us here. And yet we expect him to never mispronounce a single word, or conjugate a verb incorrectly?

I figure if that's the worst thing he does, we've got a pretty good President. I doubt any of us would hold up so well under constant spotlight and tape recorder. What, you've never said anything stupid? 🙂

  10. JL, too bad that's not the worst thing he does. Duh.

  11. You stinking liberals! I can't wait until Bush wins in 2004 so we can really get moving on keeping your mouths shut and sending you packing back to your hippie communes you socialist twats. That he can get elected without having spotless presentation skills shows just how elitist and off the mark you liberals are! This country has always run just fine on common sense and a gun-toting psyche... We don't need "friends" in Europe or anywhere else in the world because we run it all! They should decriminalize dragging liberals through the streets for being fascists.

  12. Idiots! His statement, while not perfect, does make sinse. He's saying that the level of illiteracy at the high school level is appallingly high. Give me a break!
