QotD: Sell on eBay

Question: Do you sell on eBay?

My Answer: Very, very rarely. I'm considering using iSale, but the reviews on MacUpdate are quite mixed. It won an Apple Design Award this year, but that's hardly an indication of anything. If you use iSale, what are your opinions? (P.S. I'll be selling Beanie Babies and a ton of Apple retail t-shirts. If you're interested in any of them outside of eBay, let me know…).

    I've never sold anything on eBay, and I've just recently (within the last week) bought my first items on eBay. I bought a guitar and amp, because my son wants to learn how to play. I used to play years ago, but had to sell my amp for food in college, and had to sell my guitar for my honeymoon. I was able to find some used comparable items for what I think is a pretty good deal. I haven't received them in the mail yet, so I don't know for sure.

    You have any XL Apple retail t-shirts? If so, I'd take a couple

    I use iSale since V1.0 (and GarageSale, btw) and it grew mature over time. Now, at V1.7, I consider it a valueable piece of software for selling on Ebay. Far better than doing it the browser way, if you ask me.

    Compared to GarageSale I'd say it's a close draw, comparing the features. I like the iSale GUI more than GarageSale's, but the folks around Ilja are currently launching a Pro service with advanced tracking features. Maybe this will weight in for power sellers who I am not. 🙂

    i've used both the strait up eBay way (an apple store shirt... for $500!!!!) and iSale (an AirPort card for $90)

    aside from the fact that i made five hundred freaking dollars though the eBay web site, iSale is 50 times easier to use. There is no question that this product is worth it's weight in code.

    I've sold thirty or forty items, and could never justify the expense and time of trying to learn the interface of the applications. Unless you're going to sell many items over a long period of time, I would just use the standard web interface and be done with it. I think that it does a pretty good job.
