QotD: Going to Church

Question: When was the last time you went to church?

My Answer: Earlier this summer I went (only once) because I had to or I couldn't play in the church softball league. I won't be playing in it next year… And anyway, this QotD gives me the chance to point out this article on "why men hate attending church." Thanks to Jeff for the reference. Jeff is a youth pastor near Olympia, WA.

  1. My family has a home church, and we also fellowship with other Christians in various arenas. I'm part of a huge, fast-growing movement that believes that the "Church Age" is over and that the real church is simply the body of Christ. It's a fellowship with God and with humans, not a building with an organized structure. 🙂

    Cheers,

  2. I just got home from "church" which I go to at least five times a week. Granted, its my job ;-). I found the article Erik linked to summed up some of my thoughts on why church can sometimes be a bummer.

  3. Last Sunday night.

  4. Last Sunday... tomorrow.

  5. That was a good article, Jeff. Most churches do have the "too feminine" problem that was mentioned in the article, and the churches I have enjoyed most have had more of an emphasis on men, male leadership, adventure, etc.

In fact, I think that going paintballing with my church was one of the most fun things I have ever done with a group of church people. If church was more like that, and had more of these ministries of fixing cars, houses, etc for the poor... more guys would be interested.
