Deleting Podcasts from iTunes

Why the hell is there no confirmation dialog when you delete a subscription to a podcast in iTunes? Seriously? There's not even an undo, and it's not easy to figure out what podcast subscription you've deleted.

It's easier to delete an entire subscription than an individual podcast!

P.S. Yes, I just deleted a subscription, hence the post. I used Time Machine to restore my iTunes library files from an hour ago, launched iTunes, took a screenshot of my podcast subscriptions, and then re-installed the latest database, compared the image to the list, and re-subscribed.

  1. That's funny. I just did the same thing yesterday and was pissed off about it.

  2. I just tried to delete a podcast and got an alert saying "Are you sure you want to remove the selected podcasts and their episodes?" .. (The message is the same whether you're deleting one podcast or several, and whether or not there are any episodes for any of them)

There is a "Do not ask me again" checkbox.. perhaps you clicked that once and now it doesn't ask you anymore. I don't see any obvious way of getting it back.

Interesting. I can't recall ever seeing that alert, and iTunes does not have a "Reset Confirmation Dialogs." I couldn't even find any appropriate keys in the com.apple.iTunes.plist.

Tim - would you mind keeping a safe copy of your iTunes album(s) and preferences files, checking the "do not ask me again" checkbox, and running a diff to see what the key is?

  4. I just did the same thing in Feburary 2009. 4gb of podcasts. And the original feed no longer works so they're gone forever. 🙁
