Rivet 1.0 Released

RivetCynical Peak has released Rivet, software for your Mac that will allow you to stream movies, music, and photos to your Xbox 360. This is the 1.0 release, and our software does several things another unnamed piece of software can't do:

  • Rivet lets you share movies from iTunes, iPhoto, and an unlimited number of specified folders on disk.
  • Rivet lets you share photos from iPhoto and an unlimited number of specified folders.
  • Rivet properly shows and lets you navigate your folder hierarchy.
  • Rivet resolves aliases.
  • Rivet updates all content lists periodically, so if you download a new song or create a new movie, you don't have to re-launch Rivet.
  • Rivet quits right away with no shutdown time.
  • Rivet is a tad less expensive.

The demo is limited to 1 video, 10 songs, and unlimited photo viewing per session. Rivet costs $18.95 and licenses can be purchased and demos downloaded here.

  1. Congratulations! But someone needs to polish the text on the website a bit, I've encountered several typos on the three pages I browsed (front, screenshots and faq). 🙂

(Also, the * seems pointless in the screenshot of general preferences in the text "*Requires a Rivet restart to take effect").

  2. Congratulations,

Now you can get back to playing COD4!?

  3. Frode, points taken. I suspect we'll have some changes. Thanks.

  4. Hi Erik,

Thanks for letting me participate in the beta. I'm using it full time now with no need currently to go back to other unnamed products.

Good work and congrats on the release.

  5. I love it! Wow!

I bought a copy within 5 minutes of trying it out. So impressed with how this works, and it completely alleviates a need I had for an Apple TV (which I wasn't getting for lack of Divx/xvid support). Rivet has added significant value to both my XBox 360 and my new Samsung LCD

    Thanks for a great product!!

  6. Tried it, loved it, bought it to replace the antiquated connect360 (I wonder how much of your sales is switchers?). Only thing is sometimes Rivet seems to quit out of the menu bar every once and a while. I haven't pinned down a rhyme or reason yet but twice now it's been poof gone and quit. Even at that, I'll take it over connect 360, podcasts sorted, praise whatever god you worship because I have 2 dozen subscriptions many of them HD video feeds.

  7. Console gave this error when Rivet quit/crashed if it's any help.

I believe we've fixed this error in 1.1. Look for that later this week or early next week, along with some other improvements.
