Crash! Boom! Bang! Safe to say, it didn't put a happy fun flavor in my mouth. Why? Because after getting a trial key at this page - the default "download" page - and downloading the software listed, I kernel panicked twice. After noticing the build number was "1848," I went back and got the "update […]

iTunes 7 and Music Videos

I have a few music videos. Some I bought from iTunes, others I encoded myself from DVDs. Aside from some Black Eyed Peas music videos (Dum Diddly, Pump It, and My Style) and a Death Cab for Cutie video (Soul Meets Body), which all show up in my "Movies" library, and my TV shows which […]

iTunes Showtime

I wish Apple had streams of events like these. People could have even paid $0.99 to tune into the stream via iTunes. 😉

The Problem I Have with Parallels

The problem I have with Parallels is that it doesn't seem like I can just format an entire disk and install Windows on it - I have to install it onto a disk image. Boot Camp, if I understand it correctly, can be used to install Windows on an entire drive. That's ideal - I […]

I hate shoddy reporting as much as the next guy. Apple (and its products) seem to attract a disproportionate share.

Yes, -f overrides -i. But from a pay phone?

This image (below) shows how NSLog(); looks as a graph wherein different page elements are assigned colors and the nesting determines the graph. It's explained more thoroughly here, and you can create your own graph at this page. NSLog();

Apple (the computer company) today won its lawsuit over Apple (the music company). News is reported here, here, here, and here. Some comments have it nailed: if Apple Corps would put its catalog in the iTMS, they'd be able to reimburse Apple the $6M in court costs losing the lawsuit has cost them!

Excel Scripting Question

My country club posts their tee times as three .txt files that are included between <pre> tags. The process has been: 1) edit saturday.txt (or sunday, or holiday), 2) upload via FTP. This year they'd like to do the tee times in Excel. Clearly they can "save as" a .txt file, but I was wondering […]

Click this link and iTunes should show you a free episode of The Apprentice. Add it to your cart and the price mysteriously becomes $1.99. What's up with that? Is it free or not?

GMail Needs a Progress Bar

I wish gmail had a progress bar. I'm sending a 160 MB .zip file to someone and I have no idea how much longer I have to wait.

Not So Virtual PC

I still think a virtual PC - one that lets you switch back and forth and share data amongst two operating systems - is the best way to go. But for now, Apple lets you install and boot Windows XP on your Mac with Boot Camp. BTW, what happens if a nasty virus on the […]

XP on an Intel iMac

I expected one of the characters in the last frame of this comic to say "Now what?"

When we had the whole "Freedom Fries" bullshit, I remained neutral. I'd been to France, after all, and I speak French. I wouldn't say I like French people, but I really had nothing against them. Plus, Sophie Marceau is French… But the whole iTunes thing is summed up nicely by John Gruber in his linked […]
