Question: With all that Google has, including their new Maps, Gmail, and the pre-existing stuff, how much would you be willing to pay if everything but the basic search features became a subscription service?
My Answer: I'd pay $20/year. And that's stretching it… I'm not sure I'm going to need Maps, and I rarely use anything other than the image search. My gmail account is great for inviting people, but that's it. 🙂

I seriously doubt I would pay anything. The only service of theirs I really use is the web search, and that can be had elsewhere. I refuse to touch Gmail because of privacy concerns (yes, I have read their privacy polciy and it leaves much to be desired), and since I own a Mac running Panther, Sherlock gives me the rest of it.
PS - and I'm a cheapskate but you already knew that. 😉

Unless Mapquest and Yahoo Maps were to both start charging money (and they won't, as whoever does so first will quickly find that their users will all jump to the competitor) then I don't see how Google could possibly expect people to subscribe to their maps. Expect to see advertising added to the page soon, though.
I can imagine them charging for Gmail, but several times they have said that they think they can keep it supported by advertising.
