xor

From a conversation I had today:
erik: do you see a page or an error? andy: nope erik: do you see a page xor an error?
Friends always look at me oddly when they say "do you want to see a movie or go out to eat?" and I reply "yes." I try to explain to them what the exclusive or, or "xor," is, but they glass over. Needless to say, sometimes I use it. 🙂

Note that the English language (and German, too, for that matter) does not differentiate between exclusive or and inclusive or. Latin does, for example: "vel" = [x]or and "aut" = [i]or.
However, my answer should have been "yes" for both xor and or 🙂

I tried that on my wife once and she just about slapped me. 🙂

Heh. I talk like that a lot. It annoys normal people to no end.
(And I just called myself "not normal")

Wait, wait. If he's giving you a false value for the inclusive or, that's more information than he's going to give you with the exclusive or.
Inclusive or can only be false if ~page and ~error. Exclusive or can be false if there is both a page and an error. So by giving you the false value with an inclusive or, he's also given you the value of the exclusive or. No reason to ask for it.

My girlfriend would leave me if I pulled that. 😀
