QotD: AIM

Question: What percentage of the people you "talk" to in a day are "electronic"? In other words, how many people with which you regularly correspond one-on-one (email, IM) have you ever met "IRL"?
My Answer: As I look at the list of "buddies" online right now, I've met just over 70% of them. My guess is that this is a fairly high number. I also expect that, for women, it may be higher than it is for men.

All, except the guys from FSS... I'm using IM mostly as a telephone-replacement (my telephone bill is usually around $2 each month)

100%

Almost all. I work at home in Florida & my company is in Vancouver, so we're only in touch via phone, email, and sometimes IM. I've only met 3 of my co-workers in person.

Don't you contradict yourself?
"What percentage of the people you "talk" to in a day are "electronic"?"
AKA: Out of all your buddies, how many have you never met in real life?
"How many people with which you regularly correspond one-on-one (email, IM) have you ever met "IRL"?"
AKA: Out of all your buddies, how many have you met in real life?
In any case, looking at my list it seems about 50/50. I have talked to several people online before meeting them "IRL".

It's not contradictory if it's two sides of the same coin. Yes, someone could answer the question by saying "25%" but that's just silly. If they say "25% are _____" then we can easily determine that 75% are "!_____" 😀
