   Actually, I do enjoy watching hockey whenever possible. I find it interesting, and a very fast-paced sport. I wish I could understand the rules so I could better follow the game better?

   Anybody know a good website to further educate myself in the sport of hockey?

   Someone posted a not-so-great primer on hockey to Kuro5hin recently. Personally, I didn't think it rated half the nasty comments it got given that it contained the words "brief" and "primer" in the title. That said, it is pretty superficial, and contains a few factual errors, but the overview of the rules is fairly accurate.

   In any case... I can't resist. GO FLAMES!

   Ok, one question. I only mention this because I ran across it in that Brief Primer on Hockey linked above. Has anyone ever heard any announcer refer to the puck as "the biscuit"? I've been watching Hockey Night In Canada on CBC since before I remember, and I have never once heard any announcer, or anyone I know for that matter, refer to the puck as "the biscuit".

   Where did it come from? Does anyone actually say that?

   Biscuit might be a Foster Hewitt'ism...

   For what it's worth, I've heard it referred to as a biscuit infrequently in Toronto Maple Leaf radio/TSN broadcasts by Mr. Joe "Holey Macinaw!" Bowen (who's got to be the best play-by-play guy in the business today).

   Hewitt, BTW, coined the phrase: "He shoots! He scores!"

    Ayup. Not that I have much of a choice, living in Calgary. I can track the progress of the games by listening to the racket outside my home. And "The Red Mile" passes by what passes for my local, The Ship and Anchor. There's a reality show on right now to the effect of 10 things a guy should do in his life (premise "real" guy). Well, one of them is partake in the Calgary strut down 17th. As a gay friend of mine puts it, "Straight Pride Parade."

    Wow, lots of Calgarians reading here. I work with 6 of them myself, but growing up in the Tampa Bay area, I gotta say STANLEY NEEDS A TAN! Anyway, to address the question, I never really cared about hockey before this year and even through the season. When I realized the Lightning were in the playoffs, I jumped on the bandwagon and have learned a lot about hockey in the past few weeks. The games are quite intense once you figure out what the hell is going on. 🙂 Just a couple of weeks ago, I thought "icing" was when someone skated up to the puck and stopped quickly, thus showering it with ice. LOL!

    I know this is an old post and no one will ever read this but, whats with all the flames fans??? Where are the hockeytown peoples... GO REDWINGS... if the NHL ever gets it stuff together...
