QotD: Golfing

Question: If you've ever played golf, what was your score your first time out on a regular (not executive) course?

My Answer: My first score was 98. I'd beat enough balls with the 7-iron I had in a field to develop a swing that was at least capable of breaking 100. I was also 15, so my putting was your typical "putts like a kid" variety. Four footers look like tap-ins at that age.

  1. I didn't keep score my first time out. In fact, I rarely do keep score considering I don't play as much as I'd like to, and I really don't want to look at the score. But I have fun regardless...

  2. My first game was a best ball tournament at my Army unit while stationed in Germany. I double boogied it all the way and we came dead last. Because we were last they gave us a tiny trophy with a horse's ass. No, that is not a joke, we really got the trophies! And I got TWO because my wife was in my foursome!

  3. I would venture to say it was 110 or so. But then I remember me and a buddy shooting 89 in a best ball round a few days later, so I've always chalked that score up to a bad day.
