QotD: Holiday Booze

Question: Do you have any special holiday drinks?

My Answer: My parents make some kind of red slush stuff with cherry vodka and some other ingredients. It's very good, but I haven't had any in a looooong time. Pre-turning-21, I think. PA doesn't allow you to buy beer in grocery stores and/or gas stations, so it's been quite awhile since I've bought alcohol.

  1. A few of my friends ran out of alcohol during an all-night drinking session a few weeks ago, and in desperation they mixed egg nog and creme de banana. They claim it was the best thing ever.

  2. Samuel Adam's Old Fezziwig Ale. It's a damn fine Christmas beer.

  3. Damn, I thought Oregon was bad! (No hard alcohol in anywhere but state-owned liquor stores, which close at dark)

Anyways, I'm fond of whiskey and whisky, but that's more or less something I enjoy off and on year around.... My wife makes home made Egg Nog some years and it's absolutely delicious.

  4. Hmm--I've heard that about Utah, but never Oregon. Incidentally, we live in California, so they easily could have gone out to get liquor--they were just too lazy :-).

  5. Well, Utah only has a few liquor stores... Oregon has them all over the place, but they are state owned. You get your booze in a bar or at one of these stores or in another state.

Luckily I'm a 30 minute drive or so from Hilt (northernmost Californian Town on I-5), so if I want to get hard liquor after closing time here, I can. I just make sure it's not an idea I have after closing a bar. 🙂
