Getting Married on Friday

Carey and I have set a date for our wedding: Friday, May 27, 2005. I was born on March 23, 1978 and she on October 27, 1977, so have at it numerology freaks. 😉

We'll be married by a soon-to-be retired district justice (people only seem to refer to them as "JP"s or "Justices of the Peace" when you're talking about getting married) in our childhood hometown. Earlier in the day, we'll have closed on our house and gone to JC Penney's to get some very simple wedding-day photos taken.

We're not doing the whole "big wedding" thing because, as I've said before, she's done it before and it didn't work out in the end, so we'd rather save as much money as possible and just get on with our lives together, in a new house. We'll have a one-evening honeymoon in Latrobe, PA before going to a golf tournament Saturday and Sunday. I'll enjoy it, but how much fun Carey will have remains to be seen.

And hey, I'll finally get to wear my ring, and she hers!

We've not registered anywhere, because the only things we need are smaller, simpler things we've simply not picked up yet. We need a new dresser set (Flint chewed mine up when I was away one week), we need some new window treatments and towels for the bathroom. Simple, stupid stuff like that, and not anything you can specifically register for at Bed, Bath, & Beyond or Target.

Instead, if you'd like to contribute something to the wedding and/or housewarming, please do so via a PayPal donation. In fact, now that I know the URL of this entry, here it is:

.

I apologize for the fact that I can't change the wording to say "Give a Wedding/Housewarming Gift" or something more suitable.

  6. Erik Gets Married

Congratulations to Erik and Carrie on their wedding coming up this Friday. To him I offer all of the advice that a pop song can give: Last night I heard a good friend say he’d finally found the one I...

  7. Congratulations! May there be many happy years ahead for both of you!

  8. Congratulations to you both! I hope you have a great time at your wedding and throughout your life

  9. Congrats Erik and all the best to both of you.

  10. To each his own, but while she's "done it before" she hasn't done it before with you. So it is a new thing, indeed. My wife and I were both married before but when we met and married just months later it was something big for us.

Do whatever you want on that day, but do something that you both will have lots of fond memories of. Congratulations to you both!

  11. Congratulation!
