We Dey

steelershelmet.jpgThe Bengals suddenly morphed into the Bungles once again. Their division crown was won through the second rung (better division record) as the 11-5 Steelers came back from a first-half deficit (something they've yet to do this year) to win convincingly, 31-17.

Ben Roethlisberger, he of the 63-or-so QB rating in two playoff games last year, led all QBs this weekend:

QB Team Comp Att Yds TD INT Rating
Ben Roethlisberger PIT 14 19 208 3 0 Better
Tom Brady NE 15 27 201 3 0 Worse

If the Steelers can continue to play as they did in the second half today, and if Bill Cowher can stop himself from committing his typical post-season crap, this team will give Indy a run.

And hey, maybe they won't be allowed to "enhance" the crowd noise this time around.

P.S. Take that, Bootsy Collins.

P.P.S. Troy Polamalu, one of the most "cerebral" players Bill Cowher has ever seen, made two of the dumbest moves I've ever seen in playoff football.

P.P.P.S. That torch? Please pass it back. A month was generous enough, no?

  1. On SportsCenter, Stuart Scott talked about how "Carson led the Bengals to a week 7 win over the Steelers in Cincy and was looking to do it again." A few minutes later, Sean Salisbury said that "Carson Palmer was injured due to injury."

Uh, the Steelers romped the Bengals in week 7 in Cincy and Sean Salisbury should avoid tautologies. 😛

  2. But the real question is if they will be able to repeat their win over the Patriots from earlier this season..

  3. The Steelers lost to the Patriots earlier this year. Unless you're making fun of Stuart Scott, that is.

  4. Congrats...you beat john kitna. that's like beating up a seven-year-old autistic kid. With Palmer in the game, Bengals win 38-24. No interceptions. No running around like a chicken with its head cut off. The colts and bengals are virtually identical, so unless von Oelhoffen is able to get another cheap shot in, have fun watching Manning slice up that Steelers secondary. And good job on that second place finish in the AFC north this year.

  5. Sorry, John, that's not how it goes. The Steelers easily beat the Bengals the first time this year with Palmer in the game, and Kitna has led the Bengals to 400+ yard passing games as recently as one year ago against the Steelers. Furthermore, all of Kitna's mistakes came when the Bengals were already down (and out). What was Kitna's passer rating in the first half? 140+ or so?

If you want to call the Oelhoffen "hit" a "cheap shot" you're as whiny and dumb as your coach.

The Colts and the Bengals are identical in one respect: they both lack a defense. The game will be close.

The Bengals had to use a second-tier tie-breaker to "win" the division. They couldn't even do it outright, despite the Steelers having to play Mommy Maddox for three games. And then you held the title for, what, a month?

If you've got some actual facts, bring 'em. But don't bring lame shit like that on here and expect to get away with it unscathed.

  6. Oops. I guess that was last year they broke the winning streak. Anyway, it will be a good game.
