QotD: Taxes All Done?

Question: Are your taxes all done or have you filed for an extension?
My Answer: Carey and I are done. Whew. April 15 (tomorrow) falls on a Saturday, so the tax lady told us we had until Monday (the 17th) to send in our taxes. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me - postmarked by the 15th is postmarked by the 15th. The post office is open on Saturdays… anyway. We're done. And we will send them in today or tomorrow at the latest.

The thing was, the postal/government workers holidays (or madated long work days) , finally coincided/clashed with a religious holiday. They were not going to stay up past midnight on Saturday, with Easter Sunday (with many sunrise services) the next morning.
I'm surprised they did not allow Monday off as well, as every other holiday seems to be shifted to monday.
Monday they WILL have to stay up til midnight, or past midnight, that is. Although last time I helped someone with their taxes getting in THAT late, they only kept one main post office open that late (for larger metropolitan areas where the post offices are closer together), and many closed at earlier hours.

We had our refund before Valentines day.

I did my taxes Thursday and mailed them on Friday. On Sunday morning I remembered to transfer enough money from my savings account to my checking account so the checks won't bounce.
