Giving up TV

There's an article on giving up TV. Many of the people in the comments section talk about how bad television has gotten, largely due to commercials.
These people need a TiVo.
I watch more TV now than ever. Before my TiVo, I too hated commercials. Now I can watch the shows I want to watch when I want to watch them without pesky ads. Simple as that.

My UltimateTV makes me watch more TV too. But I only watch what I like, and I always timeshift. One of the things I really like about systems such as these is the ability to set up search words for the system to look out for. For Example: 'Dune' Now, I'll be able to re-watch the tale of Arakkis and catch the new installment, all without watching commercials 🙂

Like a lot of the internet, Tv is supported by ads. But more so. People are thrilled when they "beat" the system, with Tivo or, Mozilla, etc. That's swell, but probably not a good thing in terms of the "big picture."
Ads are annoying, but paying for everything you watch/read would be more so.
