Considering Getting an iPhone for Cyndicate Testing

I'm considering picking up an iPhone well in advance of any official AT&T takeover of Cellular One. The reason? Cyndicate may have some features coming that need the testing capabilities.
I don't know, though… it'll be tough to justify the $60/month as a test unit. Perhaps I can just cancel my account after signing up (within the 14 days). The Web features still keep working, right? Hmm…

You could always use one of the popularized hacks to enable all the non-phone features without activating your phone.

I'm surprised no one has put together an app to simulate the browser interface of the iPhone.

Can't that be achieved thru the hardware compatibility lab that apple provides to the developers. I believe a day in that lab could be very valuable for testing any piece of software.

I'd have to live somewhere near Apple to use the lab.

The lab unfortunately isn't very helpful if you're not in the bay area. I wish I had better access to it since it would be helpful. For this situation, it's about the same cost or cheaper for me to buy an iPhone then it is to fly out to Cupertino, get a hotel for the night, etc.
