iPhone 1.1.1 Unlocked

I've unlocked my iPhone after virginizing, installing 1.1.1, reverting the software to 1.0.2 to jailbreak/activate, updating to 1.1.1 again, and installing anySIM again.

All is working well, and I was happy to see that YouTube works via the newly updated Independence activate/jailbreak methods.

  1. Glad to hear it worked for you, I'm in the middle of doing that myself (iTunes is downloading 1.1.1).

Normally I'd be sensible and wait for verification from people (such as yourself), but figured it was time to live on the edge, if ever so slightly 🙂

Let me know how it goes. It takes a long time, and I had to re-issue a few of the commands in the "virginizer" script (I believe because the CommCenter is not shut down, so sometimes it's "busy"), but otherwise everything's worked great.

At some point I must have restored instead of updated, too, because all of my applications were wiped out. Fortunately I was always able to reinstall after activating and jailbreaking. I grabbed Installer from the AppTapp bundle, and anySIM I uploaded via FTP.

  3. My process:

Get the virginizer & the script, scp everything to /usr/local/Virginizer (to keep seperate). Ran it step by step rather than as a whole, everything went fine. At this point still running 1.0.2.

Try both iNdependence & iFuntastic to "prep" it for upgrade to 1.1.1, neither worked, so did a restore to 1.0.2 in iTunes. Then used iNdependence to "prep" it. Then used iTunes to upgrade, and back to iNdepence to activate, install SSH and copy anySIM over.

The longest parts for me were: persuading myself to do it, figuring out the "just restore to 1.0.2 in iTunes, it'll make things work" step, and waiting for iTunes to download the 1.1.1 update.
