New Photo Blog

As I said a few days ago, I closed the Photo Battle Blog.

Today I had a little time on my hands, so I've created a photoblog just for me: http://photos.nslog.com/.

Subscribe (here's the link), visit, and most rate the photos. I hope to post daily, but those times when I don't have any particularly stunning images, I won't. I'll be using my back catalog for quite awhile, though, so hopefully I can stay ahead of the curve.

  1. i like the design!

    few unsolicited design comments:

the next/prev buttons act a little funny, sometimes working and other times not. (i think it's probably just the beginning/end of the images when it "stops working" but that's not obvious, as it still fades the (same) image.)

Why does the image fade in again when rated?

i know it's kind of dumb, but think about putting a no-repeat on the background for the Message input field - when i make it bigger in Safari the background repeats. (might not look much better on no-repeat, but worth thinking about)

the scriptaculous slide on the comments seems a little slow, but maybe it'll feel right when there are more comments. ...I'm also a fan of blind instead of slide. 🙂

so - that's it for my unsolicited critique. 🙂 looking forward to seeing your photography!

Thanks. I take no credit for it, aside from a few small tweaks - the link to the designer of that "template" as they're called in PixelPost is at the bottom.

Unfortunately the templates are plain old HTML, even though they're served by a PHP script. So I don't think I can do much about that, unless I want to insert some JavaScript or something. I'll ask the designer about it, though, because I'd prefer the buttons to disable when you reach the "end" too. Right now, every day you show up it'll say "Next" and mislead you into thinking you're behind.

I don't know. Perhaps I'll ask the designer.

I've done that. Still doesn't quite look "good" but it looks better than it did. I don't think the designer planned on people resizing that field. 🙂

Eh, I've only had one comment so far, so I'm not particularly worried just yet. 😉

Today I wrote my own plugin to fix this issue.
