Minipayments

Jon Rentzsh has an idea on how Apple may be handling all of those $0.99 minipayments. Personally, I'm quite surprised that there's no way to "bankroll" or establish "credit." I'd gladly give Apple, oh, $50 to spend in the next, oh, year or so. This would act as a governor to my own sp, and so I understand why Apple may not want to do this, but in the future, in fact, they may if they find people buying single tracks far apart.
Of course, Apple may have also negotiated a special deal with the major creditors to allow minipayments, too. Do I work in Apple Finance? No. Is Fred Anderson my boss? No sir. So don't ask me. 🙂

Along the same lines as a bankroll, a friend and I were wondering how long it will take Apple to start offering iTunes Music Gift Certificates.

I'm starting to think that nobody's actually bought any songs yet, as I haven't heard anyone bitch about the sales tax.
That's right: I bought a song yesterday and today I got an emailed receipt of the transaction from Apple. It seems they process them individually, though I would bet the cluster together purchases that occur within 24 hours or so into one credit card transaction.
The worst part though was that I was charged $1.06. 99 cents plus 7 cents tax! I suppose that's based on the state of my billing address, but I have to wonder how hard it is to change my billing address to a remailing service in a no-sales-tax state. It would make a lot of transactions a little bit cheaper.

What states have no sales tax? Here in FL we have no state income tax which is nice, but we got a 7% ST.

i didn't get taxed, and i live in california! whats up with that?!
in responce to the article: thats what the shopping cart is for! i built up $50 of music, but since i had the shopping cart enabled, i was able to say that i realy don't need more Star Wars Music 😛

As for states that don't have sales tax, add New Hampshire to the list. Course, NH also doesn't have income tax and consistently seems to have a whole bunch of problems with cash flow, but those things can't possibly be related... 🙂
I think Oregon is also sales tax-free.

Don't get me started about NH. No income tax, but considerably higher real estate tax burden, such that your average Joe is worse off. But your average Joe has been brainwashed into believing this system is to his advantage.
