QotD: Death by Animal
Posted May 2nd, 2003 @ 02:52pm by Erik J. Barzeski
Question: If you were to be killed by an animal, what kind would it be??
My Answer: My first instinct was to choose a quick death, and the animal that would cause it, but I'm not certain death by lion mauling is fast enough. My next reaction is to choose something relatively painless, like some kind of poisoning, but I can't really think of any animals with painless poison. In the end, I'm going to have to go with "death by duckbilled platypus." Most people don't know that the duckbilled platypus is actually quite deadly, and at least my death would serve as a warning of these dangerous monotremes.

There's some snake whose poison kills you faster than you can feel its bite, that's a cool way to die 🙂

I don't know if you'd want death by a platypus. Their venom is the only one known to man that attacks nothing but pain receptors in the human body. Unless you want to faint first, of course...

Somehow I stumbled onto this site. Don't ask me how, but here i am. about the death by an animal thing...I would highly recommend another animal. The platypus is not merely venomous, it is pure evil. The venom that it injects into its victims (through a barb males have on their hind legs) is structurally similar to the chemical responsible for an animal's ability to feel pain. So it shoots this stuff into the blood stream, and it makes the animal feel excrutiating pain. In fact, platypuses paralyze with pain. So if you are looking for something less painful than hell I would choose a gorilla beating or elephant trampling.
