While no "green" person would ever advocate buying a hybrid for purely economic reasons, it is painfully obvious that existing hybrids lack the ability to make up for their steep prices with gas savings.

I have yet to understand Americans' fascination with hybrid technology. There are so many problems with it, at least so far, that it doesn't warrant the attention it gets. On the other hand, superior diesel technology gets the shaft... I just don't get it.
