Carey's grandfather passed away a few hours ago after breaking his hip last year and suffering a series of minor strokes in April. It was a relatively short (when compared to other life-ending illnesses) decline, and for that I believe Carey and the rest of her family are relatively happy. Though I'm not the religious sort, I do believe his soul is in a better place.

I didn't have much opportunity to get to know him, as I've only been here in Erie for a few years and they winter in Florida, but I will personally remember him as a man of lively spirit, a sound work ethic, and unflinching principles.
