Apple Buys Beats

Apple Buys Beats. Why? I don't know. Apple today announced it has agreed to acquire the critically acclaimed subscription streaming music service Beats Music, and Beats Electronics, which makes the popular Beats headphones, speakers and audio software. As part of the acquisition, Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre will join Apple. Apple is acquiring […]

Working from Home

Working from Home: The main problem you’ll encounter when working from home is… well, you. We need constraints in order to reinforce productive behaviour. The idea of a work ethic goes out the window for most people when no-one is looking over your shoulder. Some people can just work diligently, regardless of whether anyone is […]

In the next month or two, Dave Wedzik and I plan to begin selling our book, Lowest Score Wins, via the website http://lowestscorewins.com/. This Blog is Eleven…

Though I have a reminder set to go off every December 10th, I often hit "close" and then forget about it. My blog turned 11 on December 10, 2013. Yeesh. It's less than one month younger than my daughter.

Ugh, Forums

Ugh, the modern world of forums is a real pain in the rear. I'm looking to start a new (small) forum for disc golf technique and instruction. XenForo (I use this elsewhere) hasn't seen an update since March. phpBB and MyBB are small and have hideous themes. Vanilla Forum charges a lot and their host-it-yourself […]

I'm developing a small site for someone and I've already hacked together a custom widget to show recent posts on every page of the site (the "blog" is more of a "news" thing while the main site uses pages), but I haven't yet found a good solution for an "Upcoming Events" widget. If it were […]

My Blog is 10

My blog is now ten years old. It all started with my first post, which was "I Hate Perl" on this day in 2002. Why did I write that? Because at the time the blog was a MoveableType blog, which was written in Perl. Happy Blogiversary.
