My Dock

My dock:

my_dock.jpg

You can see the Finder, CPU Monitor, SpamSieve, Entourage, Safari, Adium, BBEdit, Terminal, Terminal Pal, iTunes, NetNewsWire, and Camino (open here only to view IGN.com, which blows monkey chunks in Safari). I'm not going to link to any of those because, frankly, you know where to find them. And if you don't, you probably know how to type "G-O-O-G-L-E" into your browser's location bar.

Judi has exposed hers in response to an O'Reilly article. Like this chap, my dock is centered on the bottom of my screen with a small magnifying effect. I keep only "always-open" apps in my dock and launch other apps with LaunchBar (whose icon I hid from the dock).

Like Judi, too, I have rearranged my physical desktop to suit my G5:

my_desk_s.jpg

In this image you can see that I've arranged my G5 perpendicular to myself. I hear the fans less this way. You can see my 12" PowerBook ("Yow"), my cable modem, my scanner (on the floor, an old Firewire Umax), my SoundSticks, my Cinema HD, my old Pro keyboard, my Logitech MX-700, my LaCie 120 GB d2 drive, my old but still quite speedy Que!Fire Firewire drive. I've got an iSight, my hub/router is hidden behind the PowerBook and the AirPort Extreme Base Station behind the display. The subwoofer is on the floor and you can't make out the Firewire CompactFlash card reader by the Cherry Coke. You can make out the two Cocoa (Obj-C/Java) framework posters and the tangerine iBook banner hanging on the wall.

As if anyone cares, right? 😀

  2. No Compensation Here

I have such a small dock: Small, at least, when compared to all the other people out there who have been posting these things. A monster has been created, and it is one that will not cease until it has infected every blog run by an OS X user across the...

  3. What’s Up

Giles Turnbull had the bright idea of getting pictures of different people’s Docks, and others such as Erik Barzeski and Judi Sohn have joined in. Here’s my Dock, as it was when I read Turnbull’s article: Finder, Path Finder, Mailsmi...

  4. My Dock

It seems a lot of Mac users are exposing their docks on their blogs. I figured what the hell and decided to throw my dock in the fray: The programs in the dock (from left to right): Finder, Safari, Netscape...

  5. My dock

(click to see my dock) I made it a popup image since it's vertical and would take up too much screen space. I keep my dock on the right edge of the screen. The only folder I keep there is Favorites, which includes aliases to both /Applications and ~/Ap...

Here is my dock in response to O'Reilly's "What's On Your Dock?" column. What you see here will probably change over time due to my usage habit of a particular application. But applications most likely to long term residents in...

  10. I'll show you mine if you show me yours

What’s on Your Dock? Update: Other bloggers have decided to show off their Docks (and desks). We really do care, Erik. 😉 Once upon a time, in the early days of MacOS X 10.0 and 10.1, I’d considered using the...

  14. My Dock

As Etan said “Seems like the latest craze is showing off your dock.” So I’ll jump on the bandwagon too. Here is my dock at work at any given time. And to think I’m running a Blue & White 400...

  17. Ooh. I just tried out LaunchBar, and I fell instantly in love! As soon as I have a Mac for full-time use (my old G3 233MHz just isn't as fun to use), I'll buy the full version.

Quick question: How do you hide the LaunchBar icon from the dock?

  18. There are directions. Edit info.plist to make NSUIElement the opposite of what it is (I think it's 0, and to hide it you make it 1).

  19. Everybody Wants an Apple G5

Seems like everybody wants a G5 now-a-days, even Microsoft. What do you wanna guess they are looking into finding further ways to rip-off Apple's innovate designs? I know I want a G5, and I've got it bad. I am still...
