QotD: Panther

Question: Are you getting it? Did you get it? Did you install it? Did you like it?

My Answer: Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Duh. 😀

  1. I'll be getting it tom'w, and will take some time installing it so I can figure out all the ins and outs for my clients.

  2. Not yet. My beige G3 can't run it. I'm working on getting myself a 15" Powerbook, though.

  3. Got it, arrived over lunch. It's installed on my iBook and running nicely thank you.

  4. The screen effect for fast user switching is pretty sweet. Yea, fast user switching! 😀

What's also interesting, both my CPUs usually ran at 48°C and now they run at 52°C.

Now if I can just figure out how to get it to swap my caps lock and left control key again...

  5. I am the first in line to get it, and yes I have installed and fooling around with it. Everything seem to be running more smoothly. Maybe it's just my imagination.

  6. Finally moved into Panther full time yesterday. I've been bouncing back and forth since WWDC, mainly because I knew it would take a while to move everything over, but also because I've been playing with WebObjects and the Xcode-compatible update (5.2.2) doesn't appear to be available yet. Hmmm.

But moving to Panther is a big bonus. I don't think I noticed before what a big speed boost there is. Apple Mail seems to gain extra benefits. At the surface feature level, Expose is fantastic, but the key is to remember it's there. 🙂 All kinds of goodies underground. Also looking forward to use a final version of Xcode on the platform it was designed for (vs the Jaguar beta).
