QotD: Fonts

Question: How many fonts do you have?

My Answer: About 250. 225 or so of those are left over from the times when I used to need that many (or more) - when I did more design than I do now - and the other 25 or so are pretty critical system-type fonts. And FWIW, I like FontBook just fine, thankyouverymuch.

  1. I have two wee complaints about Panther font handling-related issues.

First, it doesn't correctly handle my emigre Mrs Eaves font's variations (Small caps, etc). The Small Caps variation just shows up as a second "Regular" style.

Second, while the typography palette is very cool, it would help if there were some information on how to generate the things it describes. For example, fraction glyphs. How do you type something so that it will be converted into a fancy fraction glyph?

  2. Oh, and I don't have that many fonts beyond the default install. Just a few from emigre - Base Narrowspace, Filosofia, and Mrs Eaves.

What I'm talking about above with fractions is that I was hoping fractions would be handled like ligatures; type 1/2, and it would be converted to a fancy representation, automatically. That seems not to be the case.

Question: How many fonts do you have? I've got all the standard system fonts that Panther installs during all three...
