QotD: Management
Posted March 20th, 2004 @ 08:13pm by Erik J. Barzeski
Question: Have you ever had a good manager or boss?
My Answer: I'm young, but for about 45 days I had a good manager when I first moved to Florida. Since then, except for the times when I've merely managed myself, I can't say that I have. I keep hoping, though. I keep hoping.
In other news, this has found its way into my /etc/mail/access file:
boss@work.com REJECT Erik is not available - Please try again later.
I have a personal and a work account for a reason.

God Yes! My whole experience inside GE was a good one, but my immediate Boss there was exceptional. She, and the rest of the management, taught me more about doing things right and getting your way through business cases than any place I've ever been, before or sense. If you ever get a chance to work for GE, or some other 6 Sigma company I'd HIGHLY recommend it. I never bought into the whole 'quality' beast before, and I've been exposed to a few different quality programs, but 6 Sigma hooked me, it's really good stuff if people really believe in it from the top down, and that was the case at GE when I was there.

My very first boss was great, but then, that was when I was 15.
