MailDrop 2 Icon Winner

Maildrop 2 Icon WinnerThe MailDrop 2 Icon contest is over, and we have a winner: Makalu Media art director Mike Rohde.

The toolbar icons in MailDrop 2 were done by mini-Buzz (aka Bobby). MailDrop 2 will be available just as soon as we get it done, which will hopefully be just before December rolls around. That way everyone can send out their personalized Christmas cards to those family members who don't quite deserve a real card. 🙂

P.S. We're still tweaking the icon - the 32-pixel and 16-pixel icons we've asked to see in just the "body + hat" configuration (no legs/arms/sack). The document icon will take some tweaks too, but is currently a "document" (the white piece of paper common on Mac OS X) with the hat and some letters.

  1. Wow. I like it. Great job. Much better than my submission.

Any chance we could see the other submissions?

  2. No, no chance. Those works are the property (except for the FSS Orange which we sent many people) of the creators.

  3. Yeah, I really like that icon.

  4. Gorgeous!

  5. No MailDrop win.

Here you see my failed entry in FSS's MailDrop 2 Icon contest thing. Mine lost. Although, I must say that the one that won was far superior to mine. I especially love their shadow. Speaking of icons, I've been working...

  6. Thanks Erik for the post! We still have some tweking to do, but I'm happy with how the icon turned out as well. It was a good learning experience creating an OS X icon (my first one in fact). Thanks for the kind comments Steve, Dustin and Dan. 🙂

  7. MailDrop 2.0 Icon Story

Okay everyone, time for a little horn-tooting PR for a “deisgn and icon” contest I won last week.
