QotD: Tires
Posted December 13th, 2004 @ 05:24pm by Erik J. Barzeski
Question: Would you buy colored car tires?
My Answer: Yeah, if they worked just as well. Brown tires would leave true-to-life "skid marks" all over the place, yellow tires could paint new lines, and fluorescent tires would sure turn heads. How about glow-in-the-dark tires? Hmmm… Okay, so, maybe they would work as well, but are illegal…

http://www.cycletires.com/ - made from remanufactured aircraft tires. Don't know anyone who's actually bought them though. I just can't imagine they'd stay too clean and then would look awful.

Illegal, why?

Well Clef, tell me this: can you put blue lights on your car? Red lights anywhere but on the back? No… blue is reserved for law enforcement (etc)., and red is reserved for emergencies (and brakes). So, suggesting that they may be illegal is not too far outside of normal.
And you didn't answer the question.

Hmmm. I might. The cost and performance have a fair amount to do with it. The grey one's in Craig's link would look pretty good on my white car.
