QotD: Beach

Question: How far are you from the nearest beach?

My Answer: Seven miles (five or so as the crow flies). Lake Erie (duh). I'm not quite as close as I was in Florida where I was four and two (and to a much bigger body of water).

You are encouraged to answer the Question of the Day for yourself in the comments or on your blog.

  1. On Long Island, I am 1 mile from some very nice town beaches, facing Long Island Sound. 15 miles away is Jones Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world facing the Atlantic Ocean.

I hate the beach in the summer. Too hot, too crowded.

    I'm a Spring/Fall beach goer.

  2. Hmm, I'm not sure about the actual distance, but it's only a 15 minute or so train ride.

  3. Slightly less than 3 miles to Lauderdale-by-the-sea.

  4. I think there's a beach ten miles or so from me in Revere, MA, but I never go there. I'm not a huge beach person, it's typically too bright to read and I burn pretty easily. However, when I stay in York, ME, which is a couple weekends a summer, I do go to the beach just because that's what you do there.

  5. *checks map* slightly more than 10 kilometers to the ocean from here. That's 6-7 of your crazy miles.

  6. About 1/3 of a mile away from the beach here in Beverly, MA.

  7. Five minutes by foot. 🙂

  8. Around 40 miles. I grew up less than a mile from the beach, and living this far inland is strange for me. I'll never fully get used to it.

  9. I live just over 4 miles from the beach! Hey! Don't you live with me?

  10. "Beach" as meaning where the land ends and the big water starts, and excluding any lakes of course... uhm

    Genova, Italy, estimated 500km

to the north, it would be northsea, ~900km

to the west, its across entire france, not counting how long it would take to reach the atlantic *hehe*

east.. nothing except balkan, asia, etc *gg*

But.. I got beaches in my head 😛
