QotD: Favorite Toy

Question: What was your favorite toy as a child? Do you still have it? Do you still play with it?

My Answer: Without a doubt, Legos. I still have my Legos, but I don't play with them.

  1. Naked Barbie, Kelly, Tommy, and Ken... Whenever i'm looking for something in my closet and I find them I wonder if they came with any clothes in the first place... Legos and linkin logs (sp) were pretty fun to play with when my brother wasn't looking though... Everyone says that kids today have the best toys.. No way Legos and Barbies are the best toys ever

  2. I had a little robot who ate money. ...Coins, that is. He ruled. i cant remember his name.

  3. The plural of Lego is Lego!

  4. I saw on Engadget that Lego now had a program (Win & Mac) with which you can design Lego models then order the parts to build it IRL. You can also upload your models to the site and download models made by others. Don't know what the part kits cost but it's a pretty cool idea. The program alone could be fun if you couldn't use real bricks (in the office, for instance).

The Engadget description made me think the program was for designing individual bricks, which would be a much more complicated process and not really that desirable. The beauty of the best Lego pieces is they're so versatile and one of the complaints about Lego in recent years has been the increased use of specialized, less versatile pieces.

  5. LEGO. Yes. Yes.

I had 83 LEGO sets as a child. I now have 400 or so. (I really need to count .. I used to have a web page containing a list of my sets, with a CGI script to give a count of the # of sets and # of pieces, but I haven't updated it for a few years. I might even have 500 sets by now, but I don't know.)

  6. Tim, that's awesome and scary at the same time with some induced jealousy thrown in for flavor. Whoa!

My favorite toys were Lincoln Logs, Legos, and Micro Machines. I didn't really get into any action figures -- except for some of the oringinal Star Wars figures that my older brothers had at that time. I do not play with any of these toys anymore, but I still have all of them -- except my micromachines, which were "left" at a friend's house and never returned... though I went to elementary, middle, and high school with him. lol. I am bitter with that thief.

I did strongly consider collecting Lego Star Wars models and even bought three sets, but I decided that the money could be put to better use elsewhere.

  7. Cabbage Patch Kids... I saved them for Little Bug but I'm sure that she won't obsess over them like I did!
