Wiimail (Problems)

Has anyone successfully added an email address to their Wii address book? I hear you can - and you're supposed to get an authentication/confirmation email - but I never see the email.

Furthermore, any and all attempts to set up an account at my.nintendo.com still fail with a lame message:

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with our e-mail server. Please try again later. If you continue to experience technical difficulties over a 24 hour period, please e-mail nintendo@noa.nintendo.com for assistance. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you.

javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: [LDAP: error code 32 - No Such Object]; remaining name 'cn=ERIKJBARZ'

I've been getting this error message since the day of the Wii's launch when I attempted to create a "MyNintendo" account so I could tie it into my Wii store account.

  1. FWIW, I was able to create a new account for a different email address (my gmail account). I have a certain username and my screen name is "iacas." It even picked up my component cable order, for some reason.

Oddly, anything involving my "firstname@lastname.com" email address is b0rk3d for Nintendo. Perhaps they can "un-bork" it as I almost never use my gmail account, and I'm afraid to attempt to switch the account to anything else.

  2. I was able to successfully add my email address to the address book. That was how I tested the quirky slot light behaviour. I did mine the afternoon after launch (Sunday the 19th).

  3. I added my own email address without a problem.

  4. When adding a friend of mine, he found that the confirmation email from Nintendo ended up in the Junk Mail folder of OS X Mail. Might be caught somewhere else if you have multiple spam filters and the like.

No, I checked my spam folder for days. Nintendo doesn't seem to want to send email via its servers to my "firstname@lastname.com" email address.

  6. I heard that all you needed to do was reply to the email the Wii sends you, so I sent an email to three email addresses. I am not sure which one worked, but the email - which simply said "I accept" in the subject and body - did its trick. I can now send emails from my Wii to myself.

For the sake of this discussion, my Wii console code is 1111 2222 3333 4444. I sent the same email to these addresses:

    w1111222233334444@wii.com
    w111222233334444@wii.com
    w111122223333444@wii.com

One of them worked. I don't know which.

I sent myself email from my Wii, and it was this one - all the numbers with a preceding "w" @ wii.com.

  8. Ya i got the email to work but I can't seem to get my cell phone to work. when I send it, I get the text message on my phone but when I reply, It never reaches my wii. Has anyone got this working?
