Your Menu Bar

Question: What's in your menu bar, from right to left?

My Answer: I have a relatively simple menu bar. From right to left, I have the blue Spotlight magnifying glass, my shortname for fast user switching, the date and time (with the second showing), .Mac Sync, AirPort, FastScripts, and TypeIt4Me. That's it.

You are encouraged to answer the Question of the Day for yourself in the comments or on your blog.

  1. I've got Spotlight (themed by Vitae), date and time (from MagiCal), battery, sound, AirPort, FMenu, Google Notifier, CoverSutra, and Twitterific. I hate the menubar clutter, however, so for all the third-party apps, I replace the menu bar icon with a 20x20 transparent image, so it looks like there's nothing there.

  2. From right to left:

    Spotlight
Fast User Switching - Long Name
    Blue Tooth
    Clock (day, time, seconds, AM/PM)
    International / Character Palette
    Volume Control
    Display Prefs
    iChat status
    TextExpander

  3. Spotlight, Fast user switching name, Time and day (Sat 10:35 AM), Volume, Eject, Airport, VPN, Sync, Bluetooth, and Audio Scrobbler for Last.FM

    now that's some clutter. :\

  4. Also posted here. (Trying to use trackbacks broke my blog, not sure if its an issue with WordPress or Typo, but for now I'll blame Typo)

From right to left, I have Spotlight, Tunnelblick which is an OpenVPN GUI for Mac, my clock (yes it is 1:48 am), the battery indicator, processor and network usage menumeters, display and wireless menus, Twitterrific, last.fm client menu, Adium and finally Aaron Wallis' latest creation, DeskLickr, a cool little app which changes your desktop background using images from Flickr.

  5. Spotlight, Date/time (Short day name & 24 hour HH:MM), FUS icon, International menu (flag), modem, airport, menumeters CPU (x2), menumeters network, scripts menu, sound, slimbattery monitor, Salling Clicker, iScrobbler

  7. Spotlight
Blinking Battery on the bluetooth icon (imagine if i replaced the mouse's batteries a week ago when it started blinking how much battery I would have wasted, at this point I just wonder how much longer it will hold out for.

  15. Hi

I have too many in my menubar, and so, does any of you know if their exist a OS X-version or another thing like the old Menuette Control Panel?

    Rigth->Left
    Sprotligt
    International

    Bluetooth
    BluePhoneMenu
    StuffitMenu
    YahooWidget
    MacFusion
    ClamScanAV Sentry
    Amnesty
    QuickSilver

And I would like to have some more, if just my menubar could hold them ,)

  16. Sebastian: Something like this?

  17. Oh, that was a sweet one.

But no, I was looking for the old Menuette, that changed the menus: File, Edit, Help, etc into icons, which surely didn't use so much of the screen space.

I know it will be problematic with both cocoa and aqua-applications around, but could it just help in some of them 😉

Or maybe, if it was possible to make the menu bar doubble hight, so I could have all of my icons in the lower part, or maybe put them in a "control strip" in the side of the screen 😉
